Alva Yachts & YSI: North America Dealer Appointment — and What’s Available Now
Update — April 2026: Alva Yachts entered insolvency proceedings in 2024. YSI’s exclusive North American dealer appointment is no longer active in its original form. However, YSI retains one new Alva Ocean Eco 54 in inventory, and new catamaran builds using Alva’s design and manufacturing avenues remain available for qualified buyers. Contact YSI to discuss current availability.
Original announcement — March 2021:
YSI Appointed Exclusive North American Dealer for Alva Yachts
Alva Yachts, the German manufacturer of electric catamarans, appointed Yacht Sales International as the sole distributor for North America in early 2021. YSI’s headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, with offices in Cape Coral, Annapolis, and Chicago, made it the natural partner for introducing Alva’s electric catamaran platform to the U.S. market.
YSI purchased the first Ocean Eco 60 as a demonstration vessel — used at key boat shows and for customer introductions across the Southeast U.S. The appointment reflected Alva’s confidence in YSI’s position as a leader in hybrid and electric yacht sales in North America, and YSI’s existing customer base of electric and hybrid enthusiasts built over years of Greenline dealership.
Why Alva Made Sense for YSI
At the time of the appointment, Udo Willersinn noted: “With over 5 years’ experience educating customers and marketing efforts, we have a large customer base of electric/hybrid enthusiasts. Alva Yachts brings a logical progression in size and range capabilities from our current electric/hybrid offerings. The shallow cruising waters in South Florida, as well as the Caribbean and Bahamas, make catamarans an attractive solution.”
The electric catamaran platform addressed something the Greenline hybrid range didn’t cover: wide-beam catamaran stability, shallow draft for the Bahamas, and solar-electric propulsion in a vessel sized for serious coastal and offshore cruising. The Ocean Eco 54 and 60 filled that gap directly.
About the Alva Ocean Eco Series
Alva’s Ocean Eco line was designed around aluminum construction with solar-electric propulsion — a combination that produces a vessel with minimal fuel dependence, zero direct emissions, and the shallow draft that catamarans naturally deliver. The Ocean Eco 54 is a 54-foot power catamaran capable of extended electric-only operation, with a large solar array and battery bank that changes the anchoring experience fundamentally — no generator, no diesel exhaust, no noise at anchor.
For buyers whose primary cruising is the Bahamas, Florida Keys, and Caribbean — environments where silent anchoring and shallow draft matter most — the electric catamaran concept remains compelling regardless of the manufacturer’s corporate situation.
Current Status: Ocean Eco 54 Available
YSI currently has one new Alva Ocean Eco 54 in inventory. This vessel is available for purchase now. For serious buyers interested in the electric catamaran platform and the ability to discuss new builds through existing manufacturing avenues, we encourage an early conversation.
The electric catamaran segment is developing rapidly. Understanding the current inventory and build options requires a direct conversation rather than a spec sheet. Contact YSI to discuss the Ocean Eco 54 and what’s possible for new builds.
